I’m Zoe Sizemore, a Tauranga-based artist known for paintings New Zealand's iconic native birds, flora, and fauna. I graduated from Auckland University’s Elam School of Fine Arts in 2005.
I often paint native birds drawn to their powerful symbolism, much like the canary in the mine, and are a way to share deeper meanings within my work. For me, painting is about creating a pause a chance to reflect on the beauty and significance of the natural world, and the part we each play in protecting it.
